Practice Accountant

We are a tight-knit, friendly, modern accountancy firm based in Wakefield, offering a warm and welcoming environment.

Primary role

To build strong relationships with and proactively care for our SME client base in all accounting and tax related matters.

Above all else we want to ensure our clients are shocked at how well we look after them – which sounds easy, but actually takes hard work to achieve!  At Partner Accountancy we never lose clients due to failures in service.

We have systems in place to help us achieve client care, as someone new joining us, we hope that you can help us build upon this even more, as we seek continual improvement.

Key performance areas

Client service delivery will account for around 80% of your work, covering all key areas of accounting and taxation:-

  • Preparation of accounts according for FRS102
  • Development of control framework to ensure accountancy services comply with clients deadlines and HMRC etc.
  • Preparation of returns for corporation tax, personal tax and VAT
  • Occasional payroll cover
  • Identification of possible cross-selling advisory and other opportunities
  • Assistance systematising our accountancy service
  • Assistance in upscaling our R&D service offering (training provided)

People management, marketing and business development and practice management will account for the remaining 20% of working hours.  Training will be given as required.  Also included will be helping us to implement Go Proposal across the firm, migration to a new document management system, utilisation of Zapier to link up our systems and improvements to client take-on.

Qualifications and experience

Minimum qualification is AAT along with 10 years experience.

Valued more than your qualifications and experience, is your motivation and desire to help us build and expand our firm to become the more client focused and successful local practice.

Skills required

Confidence in your IT abilities is needed as we are a paperless firm using many different software packages including systems for practice management, document management, client happiness tracking, email marketing, invoice and bank statement digitization, as well as various forecasting tools.

You will also need to be skilled with people, being able to speak without accountancy jargon and in a way our clients can relate to.  As a firm, this is one of our biggest skills and advantages over other accountants.

Then finally you will need to be focused as well as being able to advise other members of the team in a friendly and encouraging manner.

You must be UK resident.
